More Home Hair Removal Systems Available Now Than Ever Before

It used to be that there were very few options when it came to hair removal solutions. It was basically a choice between the salon or one or two primitive and uncooperative products you could find at the drugstore. Now, however, there are more high-quality home hair removal systems available than ever before.

An at-home wax kit can be used to remove one’s upper lip and chin hair, as well as some unwanted eyebrow hairs. There are two basic kinds of at-home wax kits.

The first type of at-home wax kit includes a jar of wax which you heat in your microwave, wooden application sticks with which to apply the wax to your face, and then specially-treated paper strips which you then apply to the hot wax and remove once the wax has cooled. The hair and wax come off when you remove the strips.

The other type of at-home wax kit includes strips which already contain wax, which you apply directly to the skin with the hair that you want to remove. This eliminates the step of applying the hot, drippy wax with the wooden applicator, and therefore is preferred by many women.

Although either type of at-home wax kit can cause some pain, it is usually not any more painful than what you would feel at a salon waxing. What makes it worth the pain is that this method of hair removal provides you with incredibly soft and smooth skin which lasts for a long time.

Another option for at-home hair removal is the range of cream hair removers. These usually are area-specific-for example, you would want to use a different product on your upper lip than you would on your bikini area.

One thing that is nice about using a cream hair remover on your upper lip is that the cream is easier to manage and therefore more likely to create accurate results. One disadvantage, however, is that you can often not use the cream remover twice in one day, as this could cause potential irritation.

Another disadvantage of using a cream remover on this particular area is that cream hair removers often do not smell very good, and having to keep this substance on the area right below your nose can be a somewhat annoying experience. However, like the wax kits, cream hair removers also create very soft and smooth skin and the results last for a very long time.

It is also important to try different products; just because one particular system caused you a great deal of pain and perhaps some irritation doesn’t mean that all brands will. It is not uncommon to have to try at least two different brands of hair removal kits before finding the home hair removal system that is right for you. And like with any other skill, the more often you use any of these at-home products, the better you will get and the more pleased you will be with your results.

Laser Hair Removal Newbie: I need to learn the basics! Do you recommend Laser/IPL? Why or why not?

It’s really embarrassing, but I’ve had these little unsightly hairs on my chin for awhile. I noticed one or two coming in when I was about 15, and ever since then more and more have been coming in. I keep tweezing and trimming them in an attempt to keep them under control, but now it seems no matter how many I get, there are four more I missed! I don’t have hours a day to spend on keeping myself from looking like a bearded lady.

Now, to make matters worse, my skin recently became sensitive to most products (including perfume, fancy soaps, etc). I’ve become pretty much allergic to Nair (it gives me an exzema-like rash) and I’m starting to break out from constant tweezing and touching that it takes to rid myself of all these hairs. I haven’t had breakouts since my sophomore year, and now my chin is a mess! I’m sick of it, and so I’m considering Laser Hair Removal or IPL.

I am a very fair-skinned female, and my natural hair color is brunette. The hairs that give me so much grief are thick and dark- they look black on my skin, but may actually be dark brown (it’s hard to tell). I do have some light blonde hairs on my face, but I don’t care about them since they’re pretty much invisible! I’d be looking to have my chin and the underside of my neck done. Since I’m going to college (and would like to have Laser or IPL done at home, over breaks or something), I want to know how many treatments your AVERAGE facial hair removal takes- (i.e.how many treatments over how long?) – and how much the average chin hair removal treatment is going to run me- an example of how much yours cost (and the state you’re from, so I can keep the price in perspective) would be really helpful!

I’ve done some research so far, but I’d like to know if people have had good experiences with it, and if they recommend it to somebody like me. I’d like to hear some opinions and even some tips, and I’d like some general information. I want to do some more research before I decide to do it, so any help you have to offer would be greatly appreciated!

Lastly, I’d be happy to get some tips or pointer on what to look for when selecting a hair removal specialist!

Thanks so much!
